St. Crispin's Day Remembered

Today, we remember St. Crispin's Day and the anniversary of the Battle of Agincourt. In that historic battle in 1415, on French soil, an overwhelming number of French soldiers were soundly defeated by the ragtag English army.
God's hand of Providence was clearly shown that day, and continues to be shown today in our time.
What follows in the video is a rousing speech, one of the most famous speeches in history, given by Harry (King Henry V) to his men before the Battle of Agincourt.

"The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: He turneth it whithersoever He will."
Proverbs 21:1

Rainy Day

Today is a rainy day. Overcast, with a biting wind, cold raindrops hurling themselves on my windows, and mud-- mud everywhere. It's a day we could easily allow the weather to affect our attitudes, to feel gloomy and dissatisfied.
Instead, let us us think on the blessings we have been bestowed today. We have a solid roof over our heads, and some provider of warmth, whether that be a roaring fire on the hearth or a furnace in a side closet. Today is the perfect day for settling down on in a cozy nook with a piping mug of tea and a good book. Busy yourself in whatever tasks you find at hand to do, and enjoy the blessings of doing a job well.

This rain is preparing the ground for winter, and soon after that, spring. The rain shall nourish the soil which will later yield spring delights. Soon, the rain shall cease, and for a time we shall enjoy the warmth of the sun and the autumn breeze.

So, what storm hangs over you today? Do you see the gloom and fail to remember that the sun still shines above those clouds? Persevere, and remember:

"Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning." Psalm 30:5

Take some time to strengthen your heart in the promises of God's Word today.

"Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised)" Hebrews 10:23

Today is a rainy day... but remember, the sun still shines above those clouds!

Wait!

"Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart:
Wait, I say, on the LORD."
Psalm 27:14

The Cottage

Let's go traveling to a few cottages across England!

"The cottage garden; most for use designed, Yet not of beauty destitute." Charlotte Smith

I love the cottage exterior! Lovely winding paths to the door, overgrown yet ordered beds of the most delightful flowers.

Low-hanging, and sometimes thatched roofs.

The design is very simple and yet inviting! Little gates and picket fences.

"Just as there comes a warm sunbeam into every cottage window, so comes a love-born of God’s care for every need."
-Nathaniel Hawthorne-
